The Danish word pair have/få distinguishes between to have as a state or as a change:
1) Jeg har ondt i hovedet - måske er det svineinfluenza! (I have a headache - maybe it's the swine flu!) 2) Jeg får hovedpine, når jeg ser justitsministeren. (I get a headache when I see our Minister of Justice.)
In the first sentence, the headache is allready there, whereas the second sentence describes how it emerges.
3) Min nabo har en gammel volvo i sin baghave. (My neighbour has an old volvo in his back garden)
4) Min nabo får ny bil hvert år. (My neighbour has a new car every year)
The first sentence describes a state while the second focuses on a change.
