For at means in order to. It is the answer to the question why? The focus is on the motive behind the action:

    • Til at means meant for. It is the answer to the question: For what purpose? The focus is on the tool or ressource.

    • For at kunne means in order to be able to and comes close to the meaning of til at. But still it's a question of motive.
