To do and to make in Danish - at gøre eller at lave
At gøre - 3 different meanings:
.
1) The verbal echo: Peter spiser ofte hestebøf, og det gør jeg også (Peter often eats horse steak, and so do I)
2) In connection with adjective: Han gjorde datteren gravid og faderen gal. (He made the daughter pregnant and the father mad.)
3) Finding a soloution: Hvad gør man når ens bagdel klør og ens arme er for korte - Jeg ved ikke, hvad man gør! (What do you do, when your behind itches and your arms are too short? - I don't know what to do!)
At lave - 3 different meanings:
a) Production: Jeg laver en salat til dig. (I'll make you a salad)
b) Job or occupation: Hvad laver din kone? Hun er bokser. (What does your wife do for a living? - She's a boxer.) Hvad skal du lave i weekenden? (What will you be doing this weekend?)
c) Repair: Min pc gik i stykker, men naboen lavede den. (My pc broke down, but the neighbour fixed it.
